About Us
Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts has a dedicated team of teachers, support staff, and administrators, committed to preparing all students for high school and the 21st century. All sixth graders benefit from having an eighth-grade mentor through the middle school mentoring program, Where Everybody Belongs (WEB). Maple Street averages over 75 eighth-grade mentors each year that serve as WEB leaders. Maple Street has a thriving art class called Basic Design that students can take every year of middle school to enhance their artistic skills. Maple Street students interested in drama and music, can participate in a fall play, spring musical, and Drama Club. Maple Street has eight sports that students can participate in: cross country, football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, track, cheerleading, and soccer. Maple Street has a combined orchestra of more than 100 students and a combined choir of over 200 students. Maple Street has over 10 organizations for student participation. Maple Street students participate in after school programing through Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo as well as various activities with the City of Kalamazoo Park & Recreation. Maple Street averages close to 200 eighth-grade students each year who earn high school credits in algebra, basic design, Spanish, English (ATYP), and math (ATYP).
